"And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music."
-Friedrich Nietzsche
Good above commentary. I had something similar happen at one of my internship jobs. - I was surrounded by extroverts, but I never had much to contribute, so i just… stayed quiet.exactly
best explanation I’ve seen! I couldn’t put it better myself!!
S’one reason why I’m so quiet~At my first animal hospital job, I was called in to a meeting with the manager after a couple of weeks, and I was astounded and crushed to learn that apparently I was seen to be causing trouble because I “hated” everyone and “didn’t want” to be working there. That wasn’t true, I loved the job. As it turns out, everyone assumed that because I was so quiet as I went about my work — and it’s just because of this. I don’t make small talk, it’s not comfortable for me. If I don’t have anything I need to say, I won’t. This doesn’t mean I’m not happy to talk if someone wants to talk to me… it just means I need them to start.
Luckily, my supervisor comforted me afterward and found this out and told everyone else, who soon learned that once engaged in a conversation, I may not shut up. It’s hard for extroverts to understand sometimes, I think. Silence doesn’t necessarily mean dislike or disinterest. Sometimes it’s just silence. If it bothers you, try breaking it. We’ll follow your lead.
did you mean my biggest fear at work
Wait you mean people can assume you dislike them even when you’re quiet?? ;__;
aw man guess I’m dead either way whenever I enter the real world ahh;;;

“How to care for introverts … “
I need to print this out and give it to everyone in my life as a reminder.
